The 1st Annual General Meeting of ARCCNM in Dailan, China in June 2-4, 2002

The First Annual General Meeting of ARCCNM was held in Dalian, China on June 1, 2002 one day prior to the China-Japan-Korea Conference, which was also held in Dalian from 2 to 4 June, 2002.

 

In total, 60 participants from 13 Asian countries attended this historical occasion and more than 150 doctors, scientists, technologists and industrial employees from China, Japan and Korea joined us.

 

The meeting commenced with the opining remarks by the Chairman of ARCCNM, Myung-Chul Lee, MD, and the President of CSNM, Sheng Zu Chen, MD, and the IAEA delegate, Ajit K. Padhy, gave a welcome address and congratulatory remark was followed.

 

Scientific Session was divided into two and 18 papers were presented. 18 poster presentations were also showed during the meeting, and 6 invited special lectures were delivered as an education program and chaired by Dr. June-Key Chung(Korea) and Dr. Xiu-Jie Liu(China). Xiu-Jie Liu, MD (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, P.R. China) presented on "Radionuclide Techniques in Evaluation of Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Ischemic Cardiomyopathy".

 

Further lectures were also given by Nguyen Xuan Phach, MD (Hadong Medical College, Vietnam) on "Advances in I-131 Therapy for Thyroid Cancer", by Ting Kun Au Yong, MD (Queen Elizabeth Hospital, H.K. China) on "Radioisotope Labelled Somatostatin Analogues of Neuroendocrine Tumors", by Shuji Tanada, MD (National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Japan) on "Hemodynamic Evaluation in Cerebrovascular Disorders Using Perfusion SPECT and Acetazolamide Challenge", by Saeeda Asghar, MD (Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Oncology, Pakistan) on "Radionuclide Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Ischaemia, Hibernation and Infarction" and by Dae-Hyuk Moon, MD (Asan Medical Center, Korea) on "The Value of Conventional Hepatobiliary and Bone Scintigraphy: Comparison with Other Imaging Modalities".

 

The meeting was well organized by the cooperation of local organizing committee of the China-Japan-Korea Conference and gave attendees an excellent opportunity to obtain information on recent advances of nuclear medicine and to think about the future prospects of nuclear medicine in Asia region.
